Photoshoot with model “Thandiwe” and make-up artist Kelley Coleman ~ Blacksburg, VA

Make-up artist Kelley Coleman is amazing! She called me up about a week ago and said she wanted to do a shoot with model Thandiwe with a spinal column painted onto the model’s back. When I arrived in Blacksburg and saw what Kelley had spent a large majority of her day working on, I was blown away! Kelley had painted a whole spine on Thandiwe’s back. It looked so real. Kelley lucked out because I happen to have my modified Canon IR (see previous post) Camera with me and we were able to shoot a few shots with the infrared camera. The concept was great Kelley, you rocked the vertebrates! After the body painting session we headed outdoors for some sunset action. Thandiwe was great to work with and knew her stuff. Photogs love people who have a natural ability in front of the camera. It makes our jobs so much easier. Thank you Kelley and Thandiwe, I think we got some great images!

Ballyhack Golf Course ~ Roanoke, VA

I recently spent the afternoon at Ballyhack Golf Club photographing a tree. My client and her husband are members of this beautiful golf club and play there often. She wanted to surprise her husband with a gift and the tree on hole number 9 seemed to fit the bill. I used a special camera that has been modified to shoot in the infrared light spectrum. The camera’s CCD sensor replaces the use of infrared film. In the old days of infrared film and the use of an infrared filter, exposure times were very long. On a sunny day you may be looking at a 2 minute exposure. With the use of a digital camera, exposure times are now back in the arena of seconds and fractions of a second. The effect is quiet stunning! We drove all over the golf course and I must say the links course is spectacular. I was very pleased with the images I got and my clients were thrilled. Recently I was hired by Tom and Lisa Branch to photograph their remolded house. The place is truly incredible! I am glad to say they were thrilled with the images and gave me permission to share them. I really enjoyed working with both of them, they are amazing people and I am thankful for the opportunity to showcase their beautiful home.

Ozmer~Mittel Wedding, Rockwood Manor, Dublin, VA

McNair and Aaron are two wonderful people. They were married on April twenty-fouth at The Rockwood Manor in Dublin, VA. The rain held off for most of it, but a hit or miss shower seemed to only add to the excitement of the day! McNair got ready upstairs and Aaron downstairs. I took the groomsmen out to do some portraits and left my second-shooter Susi Hutchison with the bride. The day was incredible and McNair and Aaron were fantastic to work with. This weekend I got to do a portrait session with my niece and nephew. They both lovingly refer to me as “Uncle Boogie” and are a blast to have in front of the lens. I always enjoy portrait sessions with the younger crowd….the insecurities haven’t taken root yet and you get pure white light! And of course when you bring these two together you get magic! I thoroughly enjoyed the time working with theses two amazing little people. Truth be told they both had to bribed with sacred “D” town toys…….but whatever works! I hope you enjoy…….
