I am very pleased to be working with Jinny Boxley, owner of Blue Mountain Arabians. I have had the opportunity to do two photo sessions with Sophie and Mike, two of her Arabians. Working with horses is a unique experience and something I enjoy thoroughly. Our first photo session was done at Jinny’s farm in Troutville and the second session was at Amethyst Acres. Mark and Deb own this beautiful Equine Center located in Buchanan, VA and the only thing more amazing than their place are the two owners themselves. Mark and Deb’s life is horses and they are beautiful people. They were kind enough to let us use their center to capture some great shoots. Mark even jumped into the role as handler and was great at helping me get some excellent photos for Jinny. Mark and Deb thank you so much and Jinny your horses are magnificent! It was truly a pleasure to work with all of you. Here are a few of the more “artistic shots” from the sessions.

Shooting Pin-Up Style Portraiture is a favorite of mine. Call me nostalgic but I love the classic look. To recreate something that brings back imagery from an era gone by is like slipping into the past for brief span of time. Working with Ashlyn was fantastic! She has that certain look that makes the photo seem genuine. With help from Medina Spreco doing the hair and make-up, the picture transcends the boundaries of time and draws the viewer back into the days of yesteryear. Here are two of my favorites from the day!

Away we go to the island of Puerto Rico………………

A very good friend of mine recently invited me to visit his home with him in Puerto Rico. We spent two days in this tropical paradise and I was amazed at the beauty of the island. Not only is the land incredibly scenic and magnificent but the people are some of the nicest I have meet. They took great pride in showing me all the treasures of their home. I would like to personally thank Alex and Orlando Falcon, as well as the whole Falcon family, for being such gracious hosts and welcoming me into their home. Thank you Orlando for being the driver and his brother Alex for being my personal tour guide for my quick but enjoyable visit. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again for a longer duration so I can experience more of this incredible paradise. Without further ado the photos………………….

The Big Apple, The City That Never Sleeps, The City So Nice They Named it Twice, Empire City, Gotham and The Capitol of The World! New York City has many names but the people that live there know it by only one………..Home. New York City boasts a population of 8,175,133 people living in an area of 305 square miles. The inhabitants hustle around the city at a breakneck pace single minded of purpose, just being there electrifies the senses. During the day shadows play between buildings as the sun dances across a breathtaking skyline. After dark light rises up from it’s various sources like serpents ascending up buildings, setting the stage for an epic tale of intrigue and suspense. A lucid mind altering dream-scape where one wonders in all of the brilliance of the liquid color that floods the streets in a city fitting of the name Gotham. Once visited, New York City spawns two tribes…….those who love it and those who hate it. If you find solace in the rush that is her racing pulse you can’t wait to return to the city and one day possibly make it your permanent home. But if you detest the carousel of chaos which is daily fare for New Yorker’s, then you can’t wait to get out and know exactly how a rat in a maze must feel.

I spent three days this past week in New York City just walking around, camera in hand and senses ablaze with all the fascination that comes from being there. I chose to edit the first set of images to create the effect of old tintypes. The look seemed to come natural to the photographs. After seeing the final results I felt the same feelings I had during my journey through the city. For the color images I decided on a gritty feel that would mimic the cities veneer and demeanor and bring the viewer deep through the lens of my minds eye. This continues my series of street/urban photography of the various places I travel. I hope you enjoy………………..

I know it has been a very long time since I have posted anything to my blog. I have been so busy lately that I have neglected my personal work and the posts to the blog. I am glad to say I finally have my head above water now and can finally get back to putting my work out there for you guys to enjoy. Recently I had some time to kill in Nashville, TN. It was a bit overcast but I enjoyed finding a few interesting views of Music City USA. I realized while out and about how much I miss shooting just for me…………..Enjoy!

I recently spent some time in The Bay Area (San Francisco) continuing to build my stock portfolio for a company in Southern California I have been working with since my return from Germany. They were fascinated with the photographs I produced during my Germany trip year before last and wanted to see other cities shot in the same style. I am looking forward to capturing more scenes of other cities for them over the next year. The trip also gave me the opportunity to visit with family and friends on the west coast which was a great perk. Here is a look at the streets of San Francisco as seen through my lens. Enjoy!

I have finally completed the promotional video for Helios USA located in Milwaukee. I was there for three days to shoot all the stills and video for the project and spent about four days editing two versions for the company. The first version was shown at their ribbon cutting ceremony and this version will be on their website. I really enjoyed working with all the amazing people at Helios. I hope you enjoy!

I worked with Gordana a while back and decided to look at the images again. We shot three looks in one day! Which for a model, the hair and makeup artist, and photographer that is moving a lot and moving quickly. I still think the shots I chose for the original post with Gordana’s pictures are the best ones, but…..looking through the shots again I came across about 8 of Gordie with a glass of wine in her hand. I vaguely remember shooting these but after seeing them I noticed something. Her expressions were different and she seemed more relaxed. I wanted to create an atmosphere with the shots because of her expressions and the lighting. So, I did a treatment or process if you will to the images to create an old deteriorated style Kalitype photograph. I am also in the process of creating the new blur look that seems to be infiltrating fashion photography, as I have seen it in several recent magazines. Enjoy!

Not only did I get to shoot Joshua (post below) but also his Mom! Krista was great to work with. While Krista was getting hair and make-up done Josh and I had a little one on one photo shoot! Kids are the best and it’s always fun for me to shoot a parent after shooting their child. Kinda like a cheat sheet! Krista was a bit shy at first but the silent cool…..you know? She looked at the lens the same as Josh but with more reserve. I think a portrait outta trap the soul. Here are some shots showing her true beauty!
